Dr. Elena Kan is a Board-Certified Endodontist (ABE). This prestigious certification is held by approximately one-quarter of practicing endodontists.

Dr. Kan earned her Certificate in Endodontics and Master of Science degree through the 3-year post-doctoral graduate specialty program in the Department of Endodontics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. During her residency, she conducted research on “Periapical Microsurgery: The Effects of Locally Injected Dexamethasone on Post-Operative Healing,” examining how steroids can reduce pain and recovery time. Her findings were published in the Journal of Endodontics, Volume 42, Number 11, November 2016—one of the field’s leading publications.

Dr. Kan holds licenses to practice in Florida and North Carolina. She is a member of the American Association of Endodontists and the Florida Endodontic Association.

Originally from Russia, Dr. Kan graduated from the Omsk Regional Medical College with a degree in dentistry. She spent a decade practicing general dentistry in Omsk before moving to the United States. There, she worked in a dual clinic environment as the senior dentist at one location that employed 11 dentists. Her broad background in operative procedures, cosmetic restorations, and pediatric and family dentistry provides her with a distinct perspective as a specialist.

After arriving in the U.S. in 2003, she learned English and adapted to American life. Dr. Kan completed dental school in the United States again, graduating from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. She then pursued specialized training in Endodontics at UNC.

Outside the office, she enjoys traveling with her husband, Mike. She’s also interested in reading, cooking, yoga, and beach walks.
