Endodontic Assistant
$28.00 per hour
Endodontic Assistants play a vital role in supporting Endodontists. We seek a special assistant with 2 plus years of chairside experience with an Endodontist in an endodontic clinic. Experience at a general practitioner’s clinic/offices is not an acceptable substitute. The candidate must have, at minimum, a radiology certificate with a college diploma in accounting/bookkeeping. Due to our patient demographics, candidate must be fluent in Russian and Ukrainian as well as English.
Duties and responsibilities fall into three main categories: clinical, administrative, and inventory and supplies tasks.
Clinical Duties:
- Assist the endodontists chairside during procedures.
- Candidate must be radiology certified and take dental X-rays and CBCT. Candidate must be competent with the Planmeca Cone Beam Computer Tomography device, Nomad handheld device and Romexis imaging software. The candidate will be given two attempts at each device to successfully complete the imaging. This skill is mandatory and will be the first step of a working interview for a potential candidate.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs when needed. Manage infection control protocols and ensure OSHA/HIPAA compliance.
- Placing rubber dam for isolating the tooth. Working interview will require isolating a live patient’s decayed molar (not a typodont) within one minute, 30 seconds. The hinge must be properly placed away from work area and stay in place for the duration of the procedure. This skill is mandatory and will be the second step of a working interview for a potential candidate.
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments.
- Perform equipment maintenance.
Administrative Duties:
1) Schedule and confirm patient appointments. To do so for our Russian/Ukrainian patients, you must be fluent in the language. Candidates will be given a language competency test. This skill is mandatory as most of the working interview for a potential candidate will converse in Russian.
2) Greet patients and comfort anxious patients. To do so for our Russian/Ukrainian patients, you must be fluent in the language.
3) Candidate must be competent in PBS Endo software as well as Microsoft Office. Maintain and update patient electronic records.
5) Letter Report correspondence to referring Doctors.
6) Order dental supplies and manage inventory.
Inventory Duties:
1) A minimum of an Associates degree in accounting/bookkeeping is mandatory.
2) Ordering, storing, receiving and replenishing operatory and clinic supplies.
3) Track stock levels and distribution of all materials and supplies.
4) Maintain inventory system and protocols that control flow of equipment and supplies.
